Always Have A Corded Phone For Emergencies
One should remember that he may require to plug one’s phone or handset into house power if one has a cordless phone, a phone including answering machine. In the case of the standard corded phones there is no requirement of additional power as it receives the sufficient power through the phone line itself. So one can install the corded phone at one’s residence to serve the purpose at the time of the emergency. It is also seen that there are many existing homes which are equipped with only 2 pair (4 wire) telephone wiring.
The first telephone line gets connected to the Christmas pair. This wire pair is termed as the Christmas pair because one wire is in green color and the other wire is red. In the case of the Christmas paid the green wire is tip with the red wire being ring. At the same time the second telephone line is fixed to the Halloween pair. This wire pair is named the Halloween pair because the color of one wire is Black and the other wire is Yellow.
In the case of the Halloween pair the black wire is tip and the yellow wire is ring. Pins are always numbers with the tab down. If someone watches the telephone jack Pin 1 is the left sided pin and simultaneously if someone sees the telephone plug then Pin 8 is the right most pin. When looking at a telephone jack, Pin 1 is the left-most pin.When looking at a telephone plug, Pin 8 is the right-most pin.In the case of the telephone wiring, the plug is considered to be the male end of a telephone cable and the jack is considered to be the female receptacle in the wall.
